Promotion

Yeah, today was my third day on the job as a team member at Caribou Coffee. The store manager said that next week I'll spend time as a team member getting to know all the team member responsibilities. The following week he's going to start having me trained as a shift supervisor. What the fuck? I mean, I wasn't TRYING to get promoted. I don't even know if I want it. I mean, I took a coffee shop job as an interim job until I found something better. Randi says it's not much more resposibility. I guess I'll take it. It's a pay raise. But what's kind of ironically amusing to me is that I failed at being average. I couldn't just do the minimum and be a team member. No, I had to be me: competent, efficient, knowledgeable, confident. Damn work ethic.

I know just how you feel: I was only going to join one committee at work my first year as a teacher because we're required to: I've been promoted to chair on two of them, because "i know my shit, as the Union President stated" better than everyone else does.
